THE SALVATION ARMY VETERANS RESIDENCE CELEBRATES 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY ON VETERANS DAY
The Salvation Army Veterans Residence will celebrate its 10-year anniversary with a special celebration and commemoration event, on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11.
Since opening in 2012, Veterans Residence has served hundreds of Veterans, providing them with job and emotional support, substance and trauma rehabilitation, and affordable housing.
Members of the media and public are invited to attend the 10-year anniversary event at Veterans Residence, located at 2925 Locust Street, at 4 p.m.
Speakers will include Veteran residents, who will detail how Veterans Residence has helped them in their journey. The event will also feature live music, an exhibition of archival photographs and a guided tour of the building.
The Salvation Army Veterans Residence provides 24 units of transitional housing and 24 units of permanent housing for male and female veterans. Residents have access to a wide range of support services, resources, and top case managers to build a strong foundation.
Veterans comprise 8% of the U.S. homeless population. They often find themselves battling loneliness, depression, and other traumas, years after combat has ended. The Salvation Army is committed to standing beside those who stood up for us by offering a variety of Veteran services to meet their needs.
