Hope on Wheels – Midtown Mobile Treatment Center Dedication

Feb 7, 2024

In a decisive response to the staggering toll of nearly 500 overdose fatalities in St. Louis City last year, The Salvation Army announces a brand-new mobile treatment vehicle to provide addiction and recovery support throughout Greater St. Louis.

The Salvation Army invites friends, supporters, and members of the public to attend the dedication event for the mobile treatment vehicle, at 1 p.m. on February 14 at The Salvation Army Midtown Service and Treatment Center, 2900 Washington Ave, St. Louis, MO 63103. RSVP today!

This event provides a unique opportunity for the community to gain insights into the comprehensive services offered by Midtown Treatment and Service Center and the mobile treatment center. Refreshments will be provided and an opportunity to tour the mobile treatment vehicle, in addition to Midtown Treatment and Service Center.

"The mobile unit is a beacon of hope, bringing life-saving services directly to those most affected by addiction. By reaching individuals wherever they are, we break down barriers to access, providing immediate support and fostering a path to recovery. This approach offers a lifeline to those in the throes of addiction and facilitates positive change throughout the region,” said Major Adam Moore, St. Louis Metro Area Commander for The Salvation Army.

The goal of the mobile unit is to remove barriers to treatment - by taking the services to areas that have high overdose rates, such as North St Louis City and County and Jefferson County. The Salvation Army will take help and support to wherever it’s needed.

Everyone is welcome to attend the event and tour the Midtown Treatment and Service Center facilities. The Salvation Army stands firm in the ongoing battle against addiction, providing hope to our community.

Funding for the Midtown Mobile Treatment Center was provided through a grant from the Missouri Department of Mental Health's Division of Behavioral Health.

“The funding from Missouri Department of Mental Health has played a pivotal role in bringing this initiative to fruition,” remarked Kimberly Beck, Executive Director of Midtown Service and Treatment Center.

Our ongoing partnership with Affinia Healthcare also underscores both organizations' shared commitment to an Integrated Care approach addressing primary health issues, mental health, and substance abuse, building a healthier, more resilient community.
