GIVING BACK, AFTER GETTING A SECOND CHANCE

Jun 30, 2021

Challenging times often need creative solutions.

In 2015 and 2018, Meghann Curtis reached out to help to The Salvation Army for a place to stay when a sudden change in housing situations forced her into a pinch without a home, job or car.

Curtis stayed with The Salvation Army’s O’Fallon corps for three weeks the first time and two months the second time, she said. Besides shelter, services she received included a shower, food, Internet access, and a place to do laundry.

“I was able to get stuff going again,” Curtis said in a June 2021 conversation. “I was able to start my life over.”

When Curtis was engaged recently, she and her husband-to-be planned for part of their wedding money to be given to charitable causes, one of them being The Salvation Army.

“My personal goal was to save something up and move on,” Curtis said.
