Celebrating Recovery Month: The Salvation Army's Commitment to Healing

Sep 29, 2023

September is Recovery Month, a time dedicated to celebrating the journey of individuals who have overcome addiction and supporting those still on the path to recovery. At The Salvation Army, we stand alongside our partners and communities to commemorate this important month, emphasizing the crucial role of Midtown Service and Treatment Center in helping hundreds of clients battle addiction each year.

Recovery Month serves as an annual reminder that recovery is possible, offering hope and encouragement to those struggling with substance abuse. It's a time when we highlight the remarkable work of organizations and individuals who have made it their mission to assist those in need.

The Salvation Army is proud to be a part of this collective effort, with our Midtown Service and Treatment Center playing a vital role in the journey to recovery.

Midtown Service and Treatment Center: A Beacon of Hope

Nestled in the heart of our community, the Midtown Service and Treatment Center is a shining beacon of hope for individuals grappling with addiction. It is here that The Salvation Army provides a wide range of addiction treatment services, tailoring our approach to meet the unique needs of each individual. Our commitment to creating sustainable positive change in the lives of individuals and communities is at the core of everything we do.

As former client Chester Harris shared: “Midtown helped me get back on my feet. It helped me to find sobriety. Everybody here has helped me. Even my family looks at me now like, “You’re back,” said Chester. Midtown offers a comprehensive array of addiction treatment settings, including outpatient substance abuse treatment, residential drug & alcohol rehab center, outpatient drug & alcohol detox and short-term residential rehab.

Midtown Service and Treatment Center

Our team of dedicated professionals employs a variety of evidence-based addiction treatment approaches, including anger management, brief intervention, contingency management, relapse prevention and trauma-related counseling.

These approaches are carefully tailored to address the unique challenges and needs of each client, fostering a nurturing environment where individuals can rebuild their lives and find the support, they need to make lasting changes.

Darien Tobias, Midtown Family Therapist

Midtown Family Therapist Darien Tobias shared on the person-centered support provided to clients: “Mental health and addiction go hand in hand. People are dealing with so many things and can get overwhelmed. Some people end up turning to drugs and becoming addicted. When I talk with clients, we often discover that they are self-medicating with drugs. That can often be due to trauma they have experienced in their lives. At Midtown we try to help each client with their challenges, recognizing that everyone is different and unique.”

A Community United in Healing

Recovery Month is a testament to the strength of community and the power of resilience. It's a time when we come together to share stories of triumph, offer support to those in need, and raise awareness about the importance of addiction treatment and recovery services.

The Salvation Army remains committed to walking alongside individuals on their path to recovery, offering a helping hand, a compassionate ear, and the resources necessary for transformation. We believe that recovery is possible, and our Midtown Service and Treatment Center is proof of the positive impact that dedicated professionals and a supportive community can have on individuals seeking healing and renewal.

As we celebrate Recovery Month, let us remember that addiction does not define a person. Recovery is a journey of strength, courage, and hope. Together, we can continue to create a brighter, healthier future for individuals and communities alike.
