Celebrating Love and Hope - Wedding at Saint Charles Corps

Joshua and Crystal accept their wedding vows.

Love and hope filled the air at The Salvation Army Saint Charles Corps as Joshua and Crystal, tied the knot on Friday, July 28th. The occasion was a testament to the power of love, faith, and the support that The Salvation Army provides to those in need.

Joshua and Crystal's journey began a decade ago when they crossed paths at The Salvation Army Saint Charles Corps.

Both faced hardships, experiencing the difficulties of being unhoused. Life had thrown many challenges their way, from battling addiction to losing friends to the same struggle. But amidst the trials, they found solace in each other's company and a shared belief in a higher power - Jesus, who became their beacon of hope.

Over the years, their love for each other only grew stronger. Despite their adversities, they never lost their commitment to one another. Together, they found support and encouragement from The Salvation Army, which became a guiding light in their lives during their most challenging moments.

Their dream of having a wedding seemed distant and improbable, given the circumstances they had endured. However, the compassionate leaders of The Salvation Army Saint Charles Corps, Major Gary Felton and Lt. Karen Felton, took it upon themselves to ensure that Joshua and Crystal's dreams came true.

When they learned about the couple's desire to solemnize their union, Major Gary Felton and Lt. Karen Felton knew that this was an opportunity to celebrate love, hope, and resilience within the community. They insisted on hosting the wedding ceremony at The Salvation Army Saint Charles Corps, a significant part of Joshua and Crystal's lives for the past ten years.

On the joyous day, friends, family, and members of The Salvation Army community gathered to witness the union of Joshua and Crystal.

The atmosphere was filled with love and excitement as the couple exchanged their heartfelt vows. Major Gary Felton and Lt. Karen Felton officiated the ceremony, symbolizing the bond between The Salvation Army and the newlyweds.

“Their love for each other and their belief in one another has carried them through years of hard times,” said Major Gary Felton. “Their love for each other and their love for Jesus has been a constant source of hope in their lives. Their commitment to each other through marriage is one made in love.”

“Crystal makes me stronger as a person, and our love for each other gives me great strength every single day,” said Joshua. We are so grateful to The Salvation Army for helping to make our dream come true.”
